Wakim Counters Attacks on Military Service and Harvard Degree

Saturday, October 14, 2006

Alan Mollohan continued his smear campaign with radio ads implying that Chris Wakim does not hold a master’s degree from Harvard University. In response, Chris has posted his Harvard Master's Degree for all to see.

Alan Mollohan has also attacked Chris' veteran status. To refute Mollohan's accusation that Chris is not a Persian Gulf Veteran, Chris has posted this section of the US Code that clearly defines his status as a Gulf War veteran.

38 U.S.C 101(2)
(2) The term “veteran” means a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.

38 U.S.C 101(12)
(12) The term “veteran of any war” means any veteran who served in the active military, naval, or air service during a period of war.

38 U.S.C 101(33)
(33) The term “Persian Gulf War” means the period beginning on August 2, 1990, and ending on the date thereafter prescribed by Presidential proclamation or by law.

Thus, as Chris was honorably discharged and did serve in the active military during the period beginning on August 2, 1990, he is, by the US Code, a Persian Gulf War Veteran.
